Details Itinerary
Welcome to Nepal trekkers! Entering the country, the beautiful view of the Himalayas greets you. As you arrive nearer to the capital city, Kathmandu, you will see the areas filled with houses at every end.
The aerial view of Kathmandu valley is quite beautiful and unique. After landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you head out to the terminal where our officials will be waiting for you.
Then they collect you up and drop you at your hotel, where you are greeted traditionally with garlands and tika. After that, the officials will help you check in to your rooms and leave for the day.
The remaining day is free, so you can do as you please. If you prefer roaming, then you can hit the markets that are lively throughout the day. However, it is noisy and crowded, so just a head's up for some cultural shock.
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,350 m)
Day 2: Free and Arrangement Day
Feel free to include your background, experiences, and any unique aspects that set your business apart. Highlight your mission, values, and the benefits your customers can expect. If you have things to buy for the journey, then you can visit the local markets.
In the evening, we will have a brief summary of your trek and preparations at the hotel.
Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, then trek to Phakding.
Flight duration: 25 to 30 min
Maximum altitude (Lukla): 2,860 m
Trek distance: approx. 6.5 km
Trek distance: approx. 6.5 km
Trek duration: 3 to 4 hours
Maximum altitude (Phakding): 2,610 m
You wake up early, get ready, and wait for your guide in the lobby. They will pick you and take you to the airport where you board the flight. The flying duration between Kathmandu to Lukla is half an hour which is short yet scenic.
You will be surrounded by eye-catching views of the Himalayas, green hills, and landscapes on the entire flight. Lukla is a small mountain town that is the starting and ending point for Everest region treks.
After arriving at Lukla, you meet up with the rest of the team and have breakfast. Then you get ready to begin your trek towards Phakding, which is your first stop on this trip.
The trail to Phakding is quite an easy one as it is primarily a mix of dirt, some rocky sections, and stone pathways. This village is on a lower point than Lukla so that it will be more greenery.
After breakfast, you head down the main street and walk past the Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural municipality office. Then make your way downhill to reach Cheplung that gives you a glimpse of Mt Khumbila.
Again continuing the walk, you contour along the banks of Dudh Koshi river before climbing to Ghat. You then climb the trails from here onwards to reach Phakding.
You pass several small villages, suspension bridges, and green forests on your way to Phakding. This beautiful village has several standards for high-class lodges and bars.
Day 4: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Trek distance: approx. 8 km
Trek duration: 4 to 5 hours
Maximum altitude: 3,440 m
You begin this day's trek to Namche Bazaar after a big breakfast. The trails from Phakding till there are pretty tough as you hike through plowed fields, rolling terrains, along the river banks, and more.
Heading out of Phakding, you cross the river through a suspension bridge on the other side of the village. Then following the footsteps of porters, you make your way up the valley.
The forest trail that follows the river valley is lined with beautiful blue pine and looks spectacular during spring. With a slight ascent, you reach Benkar and cross the Dudh Koshi river from here.
You get to see many peaks above 6,000 m from here onwards, viewing them you reach Monjo and have your lunch. Continuing the walk, the trails are a bit tougher from this point.
Walking ahead, you enter the Sagarmatha national park at Jorsale, cross a river, and continue upstream. After reaching a bit further, you cross another suspension bridge and climb uphill until Namche Bazaar.
Day 5: Acclimatize Day /Rest and Explore Namche Bazar.
Namche Bazaar is a beautiful Sherpa town and trade hub of the Khumbu region. Many trekkers acclimatize here before continuing their trek in the Everest region. This town is the last place with restaurants, cafes, ATMs, good internet service, and more.
During acclimatization, you do not rest but go on short hikes or roam around to let your body cope up with the new environment. So, you have the option to go on a full-day hike above the Bhote Khola river valley in Thami for sunrise and sunset views.
If you prefer shorter hikes, then you can head up to Everest View hotel for lovely views with drinks and coffee, which is an hour away from Namche. Or walk to Gauche Gonda Visitor Centre and Sherpa Culture Museum to learn about Sherpa culture and history.
Likewise, you can also explore the town and visit the markets, old houses, and drink at the Irish pub. While staying in Namche, enjoy the final modern facilities of the trek.
Day 6: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole
Trek distance: approx. 10 km
Trek duration: 7 hours
Maximum altitude: 4,000 m
It is a beautiful trail following Dole from Namche Bazar. The scenic route leads you to the small Kyajuma village. You get to experience stunning peaks up-close such as Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Kongde, Thamserku, and the magnificent Mt.Everest from there.
From Kyanjuma, the trail parts into two directions. One takes you to Everest Base Camp and the other to Gokyo Lakes. Take the standard road to Gokyo lakes passing through dense rhododendron forests and stunning mountain views. After a few hours of hiking, you will reach Dole, a small village located in the remote hills.
Day 7: Trek from Dole to Machhermo
Trek Distance: approx. 10 km
Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours
Maximum altitude: 4,450 m
From Dole, it is a 5-hour-long hike to Machhermo, a small village in the Khumbu region. It is located at an altitude of 4450 meters from sea level, south of Gokyo Valley. The longest glacier on the Himalayas, Ngozumpa lies just above the village.
You have to walk through steep trails of the Himalayas, encountering the picturesque views of Mount Cholatse and Mount Taboche. Machhermo is a popular spot for Everest Baase Camp Gokyo Chola Pass Trek. So there are various tea houses and lodges here offering great services.
Day 8: Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo
Trek distance: approx. 7.0 km
Trek duration: 3 to 4 hours
Maximum altitude: 4,700 m
Today we make the trek to our final destination, Gokyo Lake. We ascend toward our destination enjoying the stunning view of Dudh Koshi Valley, Cho- Oyu peak, and Thamserku. The valley passes through a Chorten on the way to Phangga.
From there, we climb downwards following the river trail before climbing up the terminal moraine of the longest glacier of the Himalayas, Ngozamba Glacier. Before reaching Gokyo, we pass through Longpongo, Raboche Tsho, and Dudh Koshi. We can also see the footprint of a Lama on the trail next to the first lake. We spend the night at Gokyo Valley.
Day 9: Hike up to Gokyo Ri (5,445 m) and trek to Dragnag
Trek distance: approx. 7.9 km
Trek duration: 5 hours
Maximum altitude: 4950 m
Today, we climb up to Gokyo Ri and the fifth lake. We also hike to the fourth lake, located at a 3km distance from Gokyo. Fifth Lake is a little bit further from there. Giokyo Ri has amazing vistas of snow-capped mountains and terrace hills. Mountains like Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Everest, Nuptse, and Makalu could be seen clearly from the nearby hills.
This spot is also famously known as Scroundel’s viewpoint as we can see a lot more than just mountains from here. The vista is truly breathtaking. We can also get an up-close view of Ngazumpa Glacier, the longest glacier from the fifth lake along with Mount Cho-Oyu.
On the way back, it is a short trek to Dragnag (4,600 m). You will cross Ngozumba Glacier to reach there. You will stay overnight at Dragnag.
Day 10: Cross the Chola pass and trek to Dzonghla
Trek distance: approx. 9.4 km
Trek duration: 6 to 7 hours
Maximum altitude: 5,368 m
Your hike today will be quite difficult as you will be crossing the challenging Cho La Pass, a high mountain pass. For Cho La Pass, everything will be uphill from the start i.e. Dragnag. Be careful not to slip on the incline because the trail is extremely steep and covered in rocks.
A snow wonderland and breathtaking vistas of the towering Himalayan range await you when you ascend Cho La Pass. After that, you will descend sharply and stroll next to a glacier.
Ascending the trail will bring you to the foot of Awi Peak, where you can descend its lower slope. Get ready to be in complete amazement at the breathtaking vistas of Tawoche and Cholatse, two of the Himalayan giants.
You will arrive at Dzongla (4,830 m) and spend the night there as you go forward across the snowy terrain that gives way to verdant grasslands.
Day 11: Trek from Dzonghla to Lobuche
Hike distance: approx. 8.4 km
Hike duration: 5 to 6 hours
Maximum altitude: 4,910 m
You will climb higher still to reach the Khumbu glacier's perilous moraine.
Walking a row of memorial stone monuments dedicated to Sherpas and Climbers who perished on Everest mountaineering missions. The trail then heads west along the western rim of the valley, dropping down to Lobuche. Seeing the sunset over Nuptse from this viewpoint is just breathtaking.
The climb up to Lobuche will be enjoyable, unlike the day before, and you will travel with Imja Khola to the summit. Traveling to Lobuche will require four hours.
Day 12: Trek to Gorakshep then trek to Everest Base camp (5,364m.), back to Gorakshep
Trek distance: 11.5 km
Trek duration: 7 to 8 hours
Maximum altitude: 5,364 m
You will commence your journey to Everest Base Camp early in the morning today. Trekking via the Khumbu Glacier's deep crevasses and icy peaks will take several hours. Rest assured, though; before hitting the path again, you will enjoy a brief lunch break. Gorakshep can be reached by following the trail.
The real accomplishment, though, comes from reaching Everest Base Camp at last. That's when you start to genuinely admire those courageous climbers who successfully navigate the treacherous Khumbu icefall.
Particularly in the spring and fall, vibrant tents stand out against drab, gray surroundings. The views of the Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori mountains are breathtaking from the Everest Base Camp.
You can choose a higher route on the way back to have an even greater perspective of the South Col trail and the Khumbu icefall. Once you've had enough time to enjoy yourself on the Everest Base Camp, you'll return to Gorakshep (5,180 m) and spend the night relaxing.
Day 15: Trek from Namche to Lukla
Trek distance: 19.5 km
Trek duration: 7 to 8 hours
Lukla altitude: 2,860 m
Your time in the Everest region is coming to its end as you will be heading back to Lukla today. After having a hearty breakfast, you check out from the lodge and make your way down through the step stones.
Then following the trails, you reach a rest stop area after walking for about half an hour. You get the final glimpse of Mount Everest from here. Continuing walking downwards, you reach a pathway of dirt and stone steps.
Then cross over some suspension bridges, you walk along the Dudh Koshi river and do a steep climb to reach Lukla.
Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu
Today your Everest Base Camp Trek comes to its halt. You wake up early and catch a flight back to Kathmandu. You will view the beautiful sceneries of the Himalayas for a final time before arriving at the capital.
After reaching here, your guide will drop you at the hotel and end the Everest Base Camp Trek. We hope the trip went just as you planned and it was fun for you.
Day 17: Final departure
The final day in Nepal is the last opportunity to enjoy shopping and touring Kathmandu Valley's cultural metropolis before departing for Tribhuvan International Airport on time.
Please note that this is the only guideline and outline program from day-by-day itinerary. There can be a lot of changes in those dates as per the weather and mountain conditions as well as personal health condition.
Day 13: Trek from Gorakshep to Kalapatthar then down to Pheriche
To Kalapatthar (round trip)
Hike distance: 3.7 km
Hike duration: 3 to 4 hours
Maximum altitude: 5,545 m
The Everest Base Camp trek is incomplete without hiking up to Kalapatthar. This beautiful peak hovers above the beautiful village of Gorakshep and is one of the best viewpoints in the Khumbu region.
Today you witness some of nature's best gifts to this region. After a peaceful night, you wake up early and head to Kalapatthar to view the sunrise and Mount Everest.
A good portion of the trail is smooth and easy to navigate. You can slowly make your way up the paths leaving behind Gorakshep, Khumbu Glaciers, Icefall, and more.
The early rays of sun shining upon the white peaks and the valley below look breathtakingly beautiful. Also, the view of Mount Everest looks more stunning close-up.
You can take your time to relish and embrace the moments. These memories are priceless, so capture them on your devices. The surrounding landscapes and mountain views make this place unique.
After spending some time there, you head back to Gorakshep and have your breakfast. After that, you pack your bags and begin the journey down to Pheriche.
You retrace your steps back, so Lobuche is your first point. Throughout the trail, you will be walking above and alongside the Khumbu Glacier, surrounded by mountains and views of glaciers.
A few of the sections are easy and manageable, while a couple of them are trickier as well, so watch out. You have already walked these paths, so you can easily make them out.
For most sections of this trek, you will be descending till Pheriche, so walk slow and steady.
To Pheriche
Trek distance: 11.5 km
Trek duration: 5 to 6 hours
Maximum altitude: 4,371 m
Day 14: Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
Trek distance: 11.5 km
Trek duration: 7 to 8 hours
Namche Bazaar altitude: 3,440 m
For the trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar, you will be descending to a lower elevation, but there will be several ups and downs on this day. So, gear up and prepare yourself.
The trek today is longer than other days, so the journey begins earlier than usual. After a healthy breakfast, you leave the village of Pheriche and begin to head down and cross a river.
After that, you climb up the valley and gain a bit of elevation. Walking further ahead, you reach a familiar path that you took while heading to Everest Base Camp.
Viewing the same scenarios, you trek downhill, slowly losing elevation. A portion of the trail is standard and less technical. Walking past several villages like Pangboche, Deboche, Tengboche, and many more, you arrive at Namche.
This day you make several steep declines and cross many forests, rivers, and suspension bridges.
