Details Itinerary
Welcome to Nepal trekkers! Entering the country, the beautiful view of the Himalayas greets you. As you arrive nearer to the capital city, Kathmandu, you will see the areas filled with houses at every end.
The aerial view of Kathmandu valley is quite beautiful and unique. After landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you head out to the terminal where our officials will be waiting for you.
Then they collect you up and drop you at your hotel, where you are greeted traditionally with garlands and tika. After that, the officials will help you check in to your rooms and leave for the day.
The remaining day is free, so you can do as you please. If you prefer roaming, then you can hit the markets that are lively throughout the day. However, it is noisy and crowded, so just a head's up for some cultural shock.
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,350 m)
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap
Early in the morning, we’ll leave Kathmandu and take a drive to Dhap, which takes about 6-7 hours. The journey begins with an easy ride on the highway but after a few hours, it passes through remote villages and towering hills.
We’ll spend most of the day following the Sun Koshi River, which provides a breathtaking view. Slowly, the glimpses of shimmering snow peaks, streaming rivers, and terrace farms will also appear right in front of our eyes.
Upon reaching Okhaldhunga, the path ascends uphill, taking another 2-3 hours to reach the village. With surrounding lush green hills, diverse landscapes, and serene lakes, the view from Dhap gets imposing. Tonight, we’ll stay in a lodge in the village.
Day 3: Trek from Dhap to Jhapre
Trek duration: 4 hours
Maximum altitude (Jhapre): 2,920 m
Duration: 7 to 9 hours
Maximum altitude (Dhap): 2,990 m
We’ll start trekking to Jhapre immediately after having breakfast. From the ridgeline on the South of Dhap, the trail goes on to Sigane, which unfolds shimmering Numbur Himal and several other mountain ranges. From here, the trail is unpaved with many ups and downs, so taking slow steps gets to be the right move.
After climbing the steep trail and passing a few Himalayan villages, we’ll arrive at Japre. It takes us almost 4 hours to reach here and relish the spectacular view of dazzling snow peaks, wild forests, and stunning cliffs. Overnight stay in a lodge
Day 4: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base
Trek duration: 4 to 5 hours
Maximum altitude: 3,790 m
After breakfast, we’ll continue our short Pikey Peak Trek by climbing up the grassy ridge to Bulbule. Hiking this section is a bit exhausting and troublesome due to the continuous uphill ascent. After arriving at the top, the trail splits, and we take the right path, which ends at the foot of Pikey Peak.
Along the way, we’ll pass yak pastures and houses beside the long mani stone wall. The course then navigates the hillside from below Taklung Danda and enters the delightful forested trail.
Walking past the rhododendron forest, we’ll get to travel the level ground. The trail to base camp takes another two hours, and finally, we’ll be gazing at the magnificent beauty of Pikey Peak from the foot of the mountain.
From the ridge, we get the most beautiful mountain view ever seen. Around our sights will be many ancient Tibetan Chortens and mani walls, which speak volumes about the culture and heritage of people living in the upper Himalayas. After enjoying the sights, we’ll return to the tea house and spend the night there.
Day 5: Hike Pikey Peak and trek to Jase Bhanjyang
Since the trail from Pikey Peak Base Camp to the summit is continuously upward, we’ll start climbing the mountain at dawn. The trek begins with a gradual uphill climb, which is equally challenging and strenuous. It calls for a great amount of energy and physical training, which is why you’ll have to prepare yourself.
Climbing a few sections of Pikey Peak requires a lot of stamina and endurance, so instead of tiring ourselves, we have to go slow. Ascending the mountain ridge is slightly wearying, but apart from that, the hike is moderately difficult.
After arriving at the summit, we’ll spend quality time enjoying the jaw-dropping view of Annapurna and Kanchenjunga. Making the most of the time, we’ll also explore the peak and its undulating landscapes.
Shortly afterward, we’ll descend the trail to Jhase Bhanjyang by following the ridgeline. The trail is initially flat and easy to travel, but it steepens and embarks into the forest after a few times. After trekking for a few more hours, we’ll end up at the last station of our trek, Jhase Bhajyang.
The village is small but beautiful with a stunning terrace farm and green hills all around. There are plenty of
Day 6: Hike to Junbesi
Trek duration: 7 hours
Maximum altitude: 2,700 m
After the successful ascent, we’re now off to getting down the trail and making our way to Junbesi. As soon as breakfast is made, we’ll come out of the village and descend the hillock, which comes with splendid sights.
From here onwards, the trail deepens and walks into the dense forest of Taktor. The path joins the main EBC trail coming from Jiri. We can find a lot of well-facilitated lodges and tea houses here to stop and enjoy a tea break.
Out of Taktor, we’ll still have to walk a couple of hours to arrive at Junbesi. The trail here is slightly more fun with the picturesque patchwork of meadows, woodlands, and valleys. After getting to Junbesi, we’ll wrap up our trek and spend the night in a lodge here.
Day 7: Trek from Junbesi to Salleri
Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours
Maximum altitude: 2,400 m
On the last day of our Pikey Peak Trek, we’ll climb down the trail to Salleri. First, we cross the river at the bottom of the town and scramble the course through the forest up to Salung. On a clear day, we can catch glimpses of magnificent Mt. Everest, Makalu, and Chamalang from the village.
The stunning view doesn’t wind up here as it continues to disperse throughout the valley and to Chiwong Monastery, descending to Phaplu. After following the trail from the edge of the hillside and down to the stream, we cross the river.
From the other side of the river, the path ascends upward and ends up at Rigmo,, which offers a breathtaking view. After stopping at the village and having breakfast, we’ll make a final ascent to the Salleri. It’s slightly difficult due to the continuous uphill walk, finally getting to Salleri at 2,400 m. Overnight stay in a lodge.
Day 8: Drive back to Kathmandu
Finally, as the Short Pikey Peak Trek is over now, we’ll now head back to Kathmandu. After breakfast, we’ll leave Salleri and drive to the city, which takes about 8 hours. We’ll pass Dhulikhel and Khurkot while driving on the way through Ghurmi Madhya Pahadi Highway.
On our way home, we’ll witness many paddy-terraced mountains, thickly wooded forests, and gushing rivers. We’ll also witness many enchanting waterfalls, beautiful hilltops, and meadows before arriving at the valley. You’ll be transferred to the hotel by our staff member, where you can take a rest.
Day 9: Final departure
The final day in Nepal is the last opportunity to enjoy shopping and touring Kathmandu Valley's cultural metropolis before departing for Tribhuvan International Airport on time.
Please note that this is the only guideline and outline program from day-by-day itinerary. There can be a lot of changes in those dates as per the weather and mountain conditions as well as personal health condition.
